Under Construction: Changing the Face of The Club at Los Gatos

You may not recognize The Club at Los Gatos anymore. The health club at 285 E. Main Street next door to Los Gatos High School has a whole new front, and it looks like a whole new building. It is part of a complete interior and exterior remodel, which will touch almost every aspect of the building inside and out, providing clients with a first-in-class gym experience.

As is often the case, some of the most important work involves parts of the 23,000 square-foot building that no one ever sees. “When construction began, it was quickly apparent that the existing structural elements were no longer functional,” says Adam Toeniskoetter, Executive Vice President of Toeniskoetter Construction, Inc. Age, moisture, and termites had taken their toll on the half-century-old building, so a full structure upgrade was necessary. The building also has a new roof, including new mechanical systems and a solar voltaic set-up to supplement the electrical system.

Much more exciting is what people will be able to see. That starts outside, with new plaster and a new exterior façade, including a new ADA-compliant front entry. Once inside, visitors will find a new open gym area and training grounds, as well as new rooms for spin classes, hot yoga, and therapy and massage. The mezzanine area will be extended and built out, creating additional workout space. The shower and locker room area will also be completely redone, with numerous upgrades and luxe finishes. Clients will have access to a new lounge and café as well as a new conference center featuring upgraded electronics suitable for off-site meetings. Accessibility will be improved with the installation of an elevator.

Upgrades to the outdoor areas are equally impressive. An extended deck area now wraps all the way around the back of the building. A turf area will be created for outdoor workouts. The pool is being completely redone and a brand-new hot tub will be installed. Protecting it all is a new perimeter privacy wall, including new landscaping and upgraded shade structures.

The targeted completion for remodel is Summer 2021. For more information, visit theclublg.com.
