Toeniskoetter Builds Good Samaritan's Heart Rhythm Center
Toeniskoetter Construction completed the build-out of Good Samaritan Hospital’s new Heart Rhythm Center adjacent to the main hospital. The 3,970-square-foot clinic at 2400 Samaritan Drive in San Jose diagnoses and treats heart rhythm irregularities that can contribute to risk of stroke, heart failure and other cardiovascular disease.
Because the clinic will perform some minor operations and medical procedures, this project required a higher level of care than the typical medical office. For this kind of clinic, the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) requires adherence to a complex set of building code regulations called OSHPD 3.
Toeniskoetter’s experience with medical offices and its rigorous attention to detail were well suited to this kind of project.
“They were unbelievably fabulous to work with,” said Tammy Marozick, leasing manager for Samaritan Medical Center, which is the owner of the property and separate from Good Samaritan Hospital. “They were there when we needed them throughout the whole project. I won’t go with anyone but Toeniskoetter in the future.”
Christie Plesche, director of cardiovascular services for Good Samaritan Hospital, said that Toeniskoetter’s construction and finishing touches in the clinic create the right atmosphere for the clinic’s patients, some of whom come in for treatments such as pacemakers and cardiac implants.
“It’s a beautiful, calming, welcoming atmosphere, but Toeniskoetter and the architects also created a very professional environment,” said Plesche. “Toeniskoetter’s team was fabulous to work with. They’re very client focused, they communicate very well and they really went above and beyond to make this project a success.”
Frank Cedarblade, Principal, and Clementine Mainini, Project Manager, of ReelGrobman & Associates designed the OSHPD 3 aspect of the project. Architect James Crawford designed the base buildout of the space.
Toeniskoetter has built out many medical office spaces, such as those at 455 O’Connor Drive in San Jose, and OSHPD 3 is becoming one of the company’s areas of expertise.
“We’re a solution-oriented construction company, so we’re very good at this kind of specialty work,” said Gary Dam, Executive Vice President of Toeniskoetter Construction. “OSHPD 3 is an especially good market for us because we pride ourselves on the high attention to detail, tight scheduling, and an emphasis on servicing the client’s needs that OSHPD 3 requires.”
